Education

Drexel University

B.S. in Software Engineering

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

September 2016 - June 2020

Completed 4 of 5 years, left due to COVID-19 related hardship

Summary

Full-stack software engineer with 6+ years of professional experience building regulated, production-grade web and mobile applications. Currently Lead Software Engineer at Wegmans — hired as the first engineer on a greenfield React Native team and led the effort that shipped the rebuilt Wegmans app to iOS and Android in April 2025. Deep expertise in the React and React Native ecosystems, with a strong record of shipping compliant software in FDA-regulated clinical settings. Comfortable owning the full development lifecycle, from architecture and team formation through production launch. Passionate about developer tooling, civic tech, and tenant advocacy.

Experience

Wegmans

Lead Software Engineer

Feb 2024 - Present | Philadelphia, PA

  • Hired as the first engineer on a greenfield internal React Native team; built and scaled the team to 5-9 engineers embedded across 4 product teams while coordinating a ~30-engineer implementation partner through PR review and technical decision-making.
  • Shipped the rebuilt Wegmans app to production on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store on April 2, 2025.
  • On-call 24/7 since launch with zero major incidents attributable to app code; ~99.79% crash-free rate as reported in Sentry.
  • Led post-launch performance remediation, cutting stall rate from above 60% at implementation-partner handover to under 1% at the p50 (May 2026).
  • App-driven sales up 21% year-over-year; the app overtook Instacart's share of Wegmans e-commerce sales (June 2026).
  • Led a year-long migration to the React Native New Architecture across a production app with a complex native dependency tree.
  • Built the team's CI/CD infrastructure and quality culture from zero: GitHub Actions pipelines, trunk-based development, and an 80% unit test coverage threshold with lint and formatting as hard merge gates.
  • Drove the migration from Dynatrace to Sentry for performance monitoring; adoption subsequently spread to Web and other internal teams.
  • Authored a single GitHub Action automating the full release process for normal and hotfix releases, exposed as a Copilot skill so the team can cut releases conversationally.
  • AI Tooling Lead: driving adoption of GitHub Copilot and Claude Code and modernization of engineering workflows across the team; mentored an engineer from junior to full engineer.
  • Stack: Zustand, React Query, Algolia, Contentstack, Adobe, Azure AD B2C, Azure APIM, custom Turbo Modules, Cooklist AI chatbot, LaunchDarkly, React Navigation, GitHub Actions.

Biomeme

Software Engineer II

Sept 2022 - Feb 2024 (1 year 6 months) | Philadelphia, PA

  • Created a React Native application for use in FDA clinical trials with the Biomeme Host Response Bacterial/Viral test and Franklin ISP device.
  • Updated a React Native application originally for research use to be used in a clinical FDA regulated setting with the Biomeme XCEL test.
  • Implemented initial release of One Health Labs Patient Portal using cutting-edge React stack.
  • Collaborated with UI/UX designers and Product Manager to assess technical feasibility of mobile and desktop mockups.
  • Organized product designs into components for component-driven development, creating diagrams and Jira tickets.
  • Mentored and assisted entry-level software engineers in team acclimation and workflow.
  • Developed internal tools to automate and streamline workflows, including user-centered system for creating customer and experimental ISP/PCR assays.
  • Maintained 100% unit test coverage and complete end-to-end testing for all development efforts.

Software Engineer

Nov 2020 - Sep 2022 (1 year 11 months) | Philadelphia, PA

Projects

canvass-foresight

Apr 2022 | github.com/ncote3/canvass-foresight

Developed a powerful data annotation tool designed to enhance organizers' canvassing efforts. The tool empowers organizers to efficiently process extensive sets of potential addresses by providing them with the ability to evaluate an address before deploying personnel to the location. Leveraging a comprehensive collection of pre-fetched streetview images, the platform allows organizers to seamlessly review, label, and provide comments on these images.

Philly-Landlord-Spotter

Jun 2020 | github.com/ncote3/philly-landlord-spotter

Built using React.JS, Node.JS (Express API), and Python. It utilizes Philadelphia Property Assessment data to create a tenant-centered tool for information discovery.

Canvassing Web App

Jan 2020 | Private Repository

Constructed a canvassing web app using Django and GIS data to optimize the efforts of area tenant advocacy organizations while soliciting canvassers for functionality requirements.
